The Arrowhead Lace Stitch is fun to learn. You have to pay a bit more attention to what you’re doing as you work your way across the needles. But with a complicated look, and just a matter of learning the simple repetition, you can create beautiful knitted items for many situations. This would be perfect as a baby blanket, as in the video you can see the bright blue was done with a lighter weight yarn (#3 to be exact). But to start out with, a simple project that can be done quickly and would be very appreciated by anyone would be a scarf. A regular scarf or an infinity, even a simple cowl (thinner or made wider to let it bulk up on the neck) would be perfect. Take your region’s climate into consideration.

Getting Started with the Arrowhead Lace Stitch

To start, you will need to cast on a multiple of 10, plus an additional 1. So if you wanted your regular scarf or infinity scarf to be 30 stitches wide, you would start with 31. With a cowl, your work will be turned sideways and then stitched, buttoned, or both, so think of how tall you would like it to be on the neck, and remember that it will drape a bit.

Using the yarn you’ve chosen, and your favorite knitting needles, make a swatch of the minimum to get the repetition. Then work until you can gauge how many repetitions across you will need and how many rows (the Arrowhead Lace Stitch has a row repetition of four) you will need to get the length you want for your project. Planning ahead will save you time!

For Something Larger

Using a thicker yarn, like a worsted weight on the same size needles, or even a bulky weight on bigger needles, you can create beautiful blankets with the Arrowhead Lace Stitch. If the yarn gets bigger, the repetition of 10 gets wider so make sure to check your gauge each time you change needles or yarn.

Something to be Cherished

Anything made from the heart is something to be cherished and the Arrowhead Lace Stitch is something that looks like you put a lot of hard work and dedication into it (and you did!) but you also put a lot of heart into it, and it shows.
