How To Knit Ribbed Fingerless Gloves

This type of project has always been a favorite for most people, as it’s easy to make and easy to wear for all ages.

They can be made in almost every style and yarn out there and completed in a jiff.

This version of our classic fingerless gloves is made by a 2×2 repetition in the round but the same applies for a flat version: knit 2, purl 2.

Here are the instructions:

Easiest Ribbing 2×2 / Magic Loop / Fingerless Gloves

#4 Worsted weight yarn. I used Lion Brand, Wool-Ease.

#8US (5mm) long circular needles, for Magic Loop. I recommend the Serenity Set by Knitter’s Pride Mindful Collection.

Cast on 40 stitches.

Here are all of our cast-on methods, but we do recommend the long-tail cast-on: The Playlist

Work in a circle for 33 rounds, using the Magic Loop: Here’s the video for Magic Loop so you get a better understanding.

Work back and forth, without connecting the round, for 10 rows.

Then start in the round again and work 12 rounds.

Bind off in pattern, (knit 2 purl 2)

Secure tails and weave them in.

Alternatively, you can also knit flat with the same pattern: knit 2, purl 2, and sew the sides, like in our classic fingerless gloves tutorial HERE.

You simply. sew only from the bottom of the glove to the base of the thumb 2/3 of the length, leave a gap, where the thumb will go, and then sew the top. It’s best to place your thumb to get an estimation of where it must go.

You can adjust this pattern with more stitch repetitions for wider or narrower gloves.
